Bake bread in the Crockpot! Now you can make no knead bread without a dutch oven and heating up your kitchen. Our Crockpot no knead bread recipe makes for an easy bread recipe. For this video, we are using our Oatmeal Whole Wheat Bread Recipe, but the method will work for any no knead bread recipe.

Crockpot No Knead Bread Recipe

  • 10 ozs  (2 1/4 cups) bread flour
  • 3 oz (3/4 cups) whole wheat flour
  • 3 oz (1/2 cup) steel cut oats
  • 1 tablespoon coarse salt
  • heaping 1/4 teaspoon active dry yeast
  • 1 5/8 cups water (filtered preferably)

  1. Toast the oats in a pan on the stove, you want them toasted, not burnt.
  2. Add the flour, salt, yeast, and oats in a large bowl and stir together
  3. Pour in the water, (warm water is best) and mix.
  4. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and place in a warm area overnight. 12-18 hours.
  5. Flour a board or counter and shape the risen dough into a ball.
  6. Turn the ball into itself several times as shown in the video.
  7. Place the dough on a piece of parchment paper larger than your Crockpot.
  8. Place this in a bowl and cover with a towel, let rise for about an hour.
  9. Dust the dough with flour if you like, and cut a design into the top, as shown in the video.
  10. Use the parchment paper to lift the dough out of the bowl, and place in the Crockpot.
  11. Cover and cook on High for about an hour.
  12. Take off the lid and check bread temperature using a digital thermometer (you want it between 190F and 200F).
  13. Remove from the Crockpot and cool on a wire rack.
  14. If you want it browned on top, put under oven broiler for a few minutes until golden brown.
  15. Do not cut it right away, let it cool.
